An Unforgettable Week at the LECOM Suncoast Classic

The LECOM team spends countless hours of hard work and preparation with the single goal of hosting the best event imaginable and they succeed. Hosted at the stunning Lakewood National Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida, this Korn Ferry Tour consistently proves to be a testament to the spirit of competition and the pursuit of a coveted PGA Tour card.
Playing in the Pro AM
Our week began with the thrilling opportunity of playing in the Pro-Am on Wednesday, where we had the privilege of teeing off alongside four incredibly talented professionals. Isaiah Salinda, Frankie Capan, Jeffrey Kang, and Braden Thornberry. We brought along friends of the brand, The Buttsy, Coach Rusty and the guys at Wedgies Golf to join along!
Whether the Pros were giving us lessons from the bunker, driver swing tips, or simply watching along as Coach Rusty broke the shaft of his driver attempting his famous trick shot, the golf professionals were an absolute pleasure to spend time with. It was a day filled with camaraderie and shared passion for the sport, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable tournament and week of fun ahead on a beautiful golf course.
Rising Star: Miles Russel
One name that shone brightly throughout the week was that of Miles Russell. Making history as the youngest player on record to finish in the top 25 of a PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour event at just 15 years old, Miles's talent and dedication to the game were evident for all to see. Breaking records seems to be in his DNA, having previously surpassed Tiger Woods as the youngest player to earn the prestigious AJGA Player of the Year Award in 2023. With his stellar performance at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, Miles secured an invitation to compete in the Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour in November, marking yet another milestone in his burgeoning career.
The Winner is Crowned: Tim Widing
The crowning moment of the tournament came with the announcement of the winner, Tim Widing from Sweden after an electric three-man playoff. With a remarkable final score of -20, Tim showcased exceptional skill and determination, moving him from No. 23 on the points list to an impressive No. 2 spot. His victory was a testament to the caliber of talent on display throughout the week and served as an inspiration to aspiring golfers worldwide.
